THE BIRTH OF CHRIST IS WHY WE CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS.
Picture taken in Nazareth at the Church dedicated to Mary sitting on a hill. Next to this church is Joseph's carpenter shop and further on a Joseph's church. THE EVENTS OF JESUS BIRTH ARE MAINLY FOUND IN THE BOOKS OF MATTHEW AND LUKE. THE ANGEL GABRIEL ANNOUNCED TO A YOUNG WOMAN WHO WAS ENGAGED BUT HAD NEVER KNOWN A MAN SHE WAS TO HAVE A CHILD. HOW CAN THIS BE - MARY ASKED. THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL COME UPON YOU AND YOU SHALL BE WITH CHILD RESPONDED GABRIEL Why was Jesus born in a stable? Jesus was born in a stable. The Bible is clear on that. However why he was born in a stable is not clear due to the translation of the Greek word used for 'Den". Our Bible translators give us the impression this was a rooming house. But that is just one translation for the Greek word. There are some who believe this word refers to a room in a house. Dr. Bean and others state Joseph could have had relatives in Bethlehem. Due to so many relatives arriving and staying at their house there was no place for giving birth. Thus they prepared the barn giving Mary and Joseph some privacy.
Here are pictures of Bethlehem taken in 1994, 2004, and 2007 BETHLEHEM in 1994

First Century WORSHIP OF THE CHURCH Taken from my book EVIDENCE OF HOLY SPIRIT GIVEN GLOSSOLALIA The worship of the church followed the Jewish order of worship at the local synagogue on the Sabbath (Saturday). The other days they met in homes. Through the order of worship and the liturgy, there is evidence of speaking in Holy spirit Tongues. Duchesne informs the reader, the earliest documents concerning the Christian Liturgy showed there was the Liturgy of Christ followed by the Liturgy of the Holy Ghost. During the Liturgy of the Holy Ghost, there was "a true liturgy with a Real Presence and Communion." "The prophets, the ecstatics, speakers in tongues, the interpreters, the supernatural healers, absorbed at this time the attention of the faithful." (Christian Worship It Origin and Evolution (1919)) The Primitive church Liturgy stressed being filled with the Holy Ghost and the fights. Tongues were for all the people. J.M. Neale and F.F. Littledale relate how the Liturgy of St. James stated:
"Who descended upon the Holy Apostles in the likeness of fiery tongues in the upper room of the holy and glorious Sion, at the day of Pentecost: send down the same most, Holy Ghost, Lord, upon us." The liturgies of SS. Mark , James, Clement, Chrysostom and Basil and the Church of Malabar (1859) The bishops associated tongues with being filled with the Spirit. Duchesne states, the new believers were water baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost usually at Easter or the fifty days following after he/she fasted, prayed, and renounced the devil and his angels to the bishop or his delegated priest. The one invested with apostolic power anointed the person with oil using the sign of the cross and laying on of hands to impart the Holy Spirit. He further expresses the opinion that tongues and the other Holy Spirit gifts after the second century were exceptional and only found in isolated places. George Jeffreys retells Dean Farrar's description of a weeknight assembly of believers in Rome twenty years after Christ's resurrection written in his book Darkness to dawn (Pentecostal Rays)). The meeting consist of prayer, preaching and singing in tongues. The early church service and meetings held Holy Spirit tongues as significant part of the service. Second Century Holy Spirit Gifts The gifts of the Holy Spirit were still being manifested at this time. The Bishops Ignatius, Polycarp, Quadratus (d.165) and possibly Papias were disciples of Apostle John and ordained by him. Ignatius (35-107) was appointed bishop of Antioch and performed his duties for approximately 40 years. William Cave in his book, Antiquities Apostolical (1682) states Polycarp was probably around 80 years old when martyred. Reading the Epistle of Ignatius to Poly carp (d ca 166), it states, "abound in every gift." he was used in the gifts of healing and prophecy. Cave (1682) said Polycarp was "truly an Apostolical man." Bishop Quadratus of Athens (d.165 lived at the same time as Philip's virgin daughters. Cave further stated he was credited with extraordinary supernatural powers which God conferred on him, $15.00 plus tax if in TN. Includes shipping and handling
