        She married Douglas Wheatley when he was 27 years old nd she was 17 years old.  Their families grew up together.

        She later married Bob at the age of 33 years.  He worked at the same drug store as Beret.  Bob’s parents owned the drug store.

        Beret’s parents were Idelia Mae Davis (whom died when Isreal Allen was 12 years old) and Milton Winter Baumgarten. She graduated from Kremmling High School.

        Beret’s family ranch was the Lone Cow Ranch.

                  Frederick Baron Crane, 84, of Mount Pleasant, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.

        Born March 4, 1927, in Mount Pleasant, he was the son of Baron Dana and Ruth Marie Baumgarten Crane.

        Mr. Crane graduated from Mount Pleasant High School. He served in the Navy in both World War II and the Korean War. Upon his return, he attended and graduated from Carolton College, and graduated from the University of Iowa School of Music, with both his master's degree and doctorate. He was a professor emeritus of musicology at the University of Iowa for 26 years. He retired in 1994 and moved back to Mount Pleasant.

He was a foremost scholar of the Jew's harp, editor and publisher of the Journal of the International Jew's Harp Society and of Vierundzwanzigsteljahrsschrift der Internationalen Maultrommelvirtuosengenossenschaft (VIM).

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Lois; two daughters, Betsy Crane Brandt of Austin, Texas, and Susan Crane of Minneapolis; three sons, Mark Zanger of Fairfield, Reed Zanger of Iowa City and Rob Zanger of Vienna, Va.; and two grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

A private family memorial service will be held. Cremation has been accorded, and burial of the ashes will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Mount Pleasant.

Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Evelyn L. Pistorius, 98, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Fair Havens Christian Home in Decatur.
          Evelyn was born October 6, 1918 in Blue Mound, Illinois, the daughter of Orian and Hattie (Eckhardt) Pistorius. She was previously employed with Schudel’s Laundry & Dry Cleaners for thirty-nine years and with Normans Cleaners & Launderers for ten years. She was a member of Meridian Community Church of God and enjoyed crocheting, flowers, baking, and softball games. Evelyn and her sister Bernice grew up, worked, and lived together for ninety-eight years.

          Evelyn leaves behind her beloved sister, Bernice Pistorius; nephew, Stanley David (Marianne) Pistorius; nieces, Marsha Jane (Ronald) Bell and Rita (Tom) Hick; cousins, Lana Pistorius and Kelly Pistorius and several loving great-nieces, great-nephews, family and friends.

          Edward Francis Mattingly, 83, lost his valiant battle with acute leukemia on the afternoon of March 7th in the loving presence of his wife, Lucile, and family members. He served his beloved country during WWII and beyond in the U.S. Coast Guard, where he attained the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. He subsequently retired from a second career as Chief Engineer of the Paralta College District.

          He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elsie in 1968. He is survived by their only son, John and wife, Debbie of Astoria, Oregon; and sister, Joann of Yuba City. Surviving family includes his loving wife of 31 years, Lucile; and her children, Dixon and wife, Jamie, John McClenaghan, and Patti Kepler and husband, Dave; grandchildren, Jennifer Fischer and husband, Carl, Amy, Andrew, Mike and Ben Mattingly, Sarah, David and wife, Julia, and Shannon Kepler; and five great-grandchildren.

          Ed enjoyed his motor home, and when that became tedious, he and Lucile became world-class cruisers, traveling to many countries. Ed was a devout member of Christ the King Catholic Church for 40 years. He will be missed by his loving family and many friends. Viewing and Rosary will be Sunday, March 11th, 5 P.M.; and the Funeral Mass will be Monday, March 12th, 12 noon, both at Christ the King Catholic Church in Pleasant Hill.           Roy F. Bailey, son of Mr. & Mrs. John Bailey, of near Boody, died of pneumonia following Spanish influenza at Camp Grant at 8:30 Sunday night. He was nearly 25 years old.

          He was born Nov. 18, 1893 near Boody and had lived all his life in that neighborhood. He left with the Macon county draft quota Sept. 3. His parents were with him during his illness. He also leaves two sisters and two brothers, Miss Ethel and Miss Vada Bailey and Harold and Cyril Bailey.

          The body will be brought to Decatur to await arrangements for the funeral which will probably be held in the Zion Methodist church near Boody.

     Because of the difficulty at Rockford of obtaining coffins and the amount of work the undertakers have to do, Mr. Bailey, the father, says it is uncertain when the body will arrive.

BOODY — Byron B. Brown , 86, of Boody, IL died at 12:37 A.M., Wednesday, September 1, 2004 in Manor Care Health Services.

Memorial service will be at 11:00 AM Saturday at Zion Chapel United Methodist Church, Boody, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Private family burial will be in Brown Cemetery, Blue Mound, IL.

Mr. Brown was born December 11, 1917 in Macon County, Illinois, a son of Marshall and Nelle Hill Brown . He was a lifelong farmer in the Boody and southwest Macon County areas. He and his brother Robert also operated a trucking company in Macon County. He was a longtime member of Zion Chapel United Methodist Church, Boody, IL., and was especially dedicated to choir and other musical activities. Byron was also a longtime member of the Macon County Farm Bureau.

He married Nitelle E. Dummermuth on August 14, 1943 in Boody, IL. She preceded him in death on April 7, 2002.

Surviving are his six children, five daughters and one son, and many grandchildren.

All who knew Byron will remember his devotion to his wife Nitelle, his large and loving family, and his church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers: Harold Brown , Ira Brown and Carroll Brown and wife Evelyn, sister: Betty Morris, and brother-in-law: John Pistorius.

The family expresses their thanks and appreciation to the staff of Manor Care for their devoted and compassionate care of Byron during the last several months.

BOODY – John Byron Brown, 66, of Boody, IL, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at his residence, surrounded by his loved ones.

          John was born December 1, 1949, in Decatur, IL, son of Byron and Nitelle (Dummermuth) Brown. He married Jackie Elaine Ambroise on January 26, 1974 in Boody. She preceded him in death on October 4, 2015.

          John served his country with the U.S. Army Reserve during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Zion Chapel United Methodist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir. John farmed with his father in the Boody area then later owned and operated John Brown Trucking. He enjoyed spending time with his family in their many activities and was a Chicago Blackhawks fan.

          Surviving are his children: Alicia, Amy, Teresa, Laurie and Bert Sturgis; sisters: Norma, Marilyn, Diane, Denise and Bev.

John was preceded in death by his parents and wife Jackie.

Jackie E. Brown, 72, of Boody, IL, passed away 11:03 p.m., Sunday, October 4, 2015, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 10, at Zion Chapel United Methodist Church, Boody, IL. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, is handling the arrangements.

Jackie was born January 19, 1943, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Jack and Mabel (Dubson) Ambroise. She married John Brown on January 26, 1974 in Boody, IL.

Jackie was retired, but in the past had worked as an Administrative Assistant at the Holiday Inn for 10 years. She also worked as Transportation Coordinator for the Macon County Health Dept. for 10 years. She was a devoted animal lover, had a great sense of humor, and enjoyed making her famous fried chicken for her family. She will be loved and missed by many.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years: John; children: Bert Sturgis II of Decatur, Teresa ( Chris) Sims of Bethany, Laurie (Butch) Burnett of Forsyth, Alicia (Sean) Rew of Danville, Amy Brown (Branden Henady) of Boody; 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; sister Sharon Martin of Amelia Island, FL, Donna (David) Reinhardt of Decatur.

The family would like to give a big “Thank You” to all the nurses and CNAs at Heartland, who loved our mother just as we did! Thank you to the comfort staff at DMH, who made sure she was at peace till the end.

          She married Milton Edward Pistorius on Dec. 8, 1920 in Granite City. He died in 1982. Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. William (Delores) Carls of Blue Mound;brother, Cyril T. Bailey of Rogers, Ark.; three grandchildren, Jay Brown and wife Jean; Kim Brown and wife Candace; Teresa Ford and husband Mark; five stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nine great-step grand children.                 Delores was born on November 20, 1929, the daughter of M. Edward and Vada (Bailey) Pistorius. She married R. William Carls on August 1, 1988 in the Thorn Creek Chapel in Arkansas.

                Delores is survived by her husband; sons, Jay (Jean) Brown and Kim Brown (Janet Gaither); daughter, Teresa (Greg) Phillips; step-sons, Kirk (Laura) Carls and Matt (Tracy) Carls; step-daughter, Annie (Mike) O’Leary; first husband, C. William Brown; grandchildren, Lori (Brad) Horn, Lana (Tim) Casica, Jason (Michelle) Brown, Jackie (Andy) Wieduwilt and Matt (Emily) Brown; eight step-grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 13 nieces and nephews.

          Irene Bender, 90, whose stepdaughter, Belva Patterson lives at Ossian, died April 5 at Englewood, Fla., where she resided. Formerly of Fort Wayne, Mrs. Bender worked at the Undergarment Co. and the Fort Wayne State Development Center.

          In addition to the stepdaughter at Ossian, she is survived by her husband, J. Louis; a son Milton F. McCormick of Fort Wayne; a daughter, Dorothylou Wolford of Englewood; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren. A son, Darold, died in 1996. There will be no services or calling. Arrangements are by the National Cremation Society at Port Charlotte, Fla.

Mr. Rice was born on January 4, 1916 in Blue Mound, IL, the son of Joseph R. and Ethel M. (Damery) Rice. Wayne was a farmer and a self-employed electrician. He was a member of Zion Chapel United Methodist Church, Blue Mound Rotary Club, Soy City Camping Club and a former member of Decatur Audubon Society. He was involved with P.A.M. Agricultural Museum. Wayne married Lois A. Zimmerman on January 6, 1937. She preceded him in death on August 3, 2008.

          Marjory Louise Zimmerman, 87, formerly of Blue Mound, went to be with her Lord and Savior and her loved ones in heaven on Saturday, April 16, at Imboden Creek Living Center. Services will be at 11:00 am Saturday April 23, 2005 at Zion Chapel United Methodist Church, Boody with visitation Friday from 6 to 8 pm at Ater-Wikoff Funeral Home in Blue Mound and one hour before the service at Zion Chapel on Saturday.  Burial will be in Zion Cemetery, Boody. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Chapel United Methodist Church, PO Box 11, Boody. 

          Marjory was born December 15, 1917 near Boody, the daughter of Arthur D and Ada Panwitt Zimmerman. She was employed as head cashier at Decatur A&P grocery stores for 36 years.  She was a life long very active member of Zion Chapel Church, was a pianist and organist there for many years, custodian for several years and a member of the Friendship Circle. 
          Surviving are her sisters, Lois Rice (Wayne) of Blue Mound, and Ruby Travis of Harristown.  Nieces are Marian Webel and Delores Rice-Logue (husband, Bill Koretke), both of Decatur, and Ann Strickler (Rodger) of Bowie, MD.  Nephews are Lloyd Rice of Lafayette, CO, David Rice (Sharon) of Blue Mound, John Travis of Upland, CA, Dale Travis (Lola) of Lockport, and Terry Travis (Carol) of Lawrenceville, GA.  She had 14 great nieces and nephews and 15 great great nieces and nephews.  Her parents and brother in law Kenneth Travis, preceded her in death. Marjory will be remembered for her love for her Lord and her family, her helpfulness to everyone, and especially her outstanding musical and needlework talents.  She will be very much missed by her family.  The family wishes sincerely thank the staff at Imboden Creek Living Center for their kind and loving care of Marjory over the past 2 and half years.  Obituary written by family members.

Ruby E. Travis, 92, of Harristown, IL, passed away on Sunday (Mar. 17, 2013) at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Ruby was born on July 5, 1920, near Boody, IL, the daughter of Arthur D. and Ada C. Pannwitt Zimmerman. Ruby loved farming along side her husband & family. She was a member of Harristown Christian Church. Ruby met Kenneth B. Travis while they were attending Brown's Business College & they married August 17, 1940. He preceded her in death on February 24, 1996. She and her husband were advanced square dancers and would travel the country attending dances. Ruby loved to quilt and her quilts were as colorful as her flower garden.

Surviving are her children: John Travis of Upland, CA; Dale Travis (Lola) of Harristown, IL; Ann Strickler (Rodger) of Mechanicsville, MD; and Terry Travis (Carol) of Lawrenceville, GA; 8 grandchildren: Anita White, Carol Peterson, Karen Puig, Steve Travis, Glen Strickler, Amy Doner, Diane Hermel, and Jennifer Travis; 9 great grandchildren; 4 nieces and nephews, and one special cousin, Mabel Hoefer of Coralville, IA.

Her husband, parents, and sisters Lois Rice and Marjory Zimmerman preceded her in death.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Richard Fritz, the staff of McKinley Court nursing home, and the 4th floor staff at DMH for the care that Ruby received.

Mr. Travis was born March 1, 1917, in Spirit Lake, Iowa, a son of Clayton and Ida Epp Travis. He married Ruby E. Zimmerman Aug. 17, 1940.
Mr. Travis was a member of Harristown Christian Church. He was formerly a special agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He also operated Ken Travis Electrical Service for 40 years. He and his wife were avid square dancers.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II. He was also a member of American Legion Post 72 in Macon.

Wilhelmina (Mina) Lipkemen was born in 1856 in Illinois. She married Louis Ludwig Kallenbach in 1875. They had eight children in 14 years. She died on April 11, 1920, in Perry, Illinois, at the age of 64.

Phyllis J. (Kopke) Trejo, 75, of Lincoln, passed away Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, in Lincoln at Tabitha surrounded by her family after a short, courageous battle with cancer.

Phyllis was born in Shelby on Aug. 13, 1938. She was the only child of Herman and Ethel (Kallenbach) Kopke.

After graduating from Rising City High School, she moved to Lincoln to attend and eventually graduate from the Nebraska School of Business where she met Kenneth Trejo, who was stationed there in the U.S. Air Force. They married in June of 1959 and had two children.

She had a nearly 40 year long career at Harding Glass in Lincoln. Phyllis belonged to St. Paul United Methodist Church in Lincoln. After retiring she worked for the Lancaster County Election Commission as an election poll employee, she delivered Meals on Wheels for 12 years, gave of her time and treasures to the Lincoln Children's Zoo and was an active member of the Cornhusker Kiwanis. Many referred to her as the "Pancake Ticket Lady".

Left to live out her legacy are her husband, Kenneth Trejo; children, Jerry and Lynette Trejo, and Lyndon and Lori Hiebner; grandchildren, Lindsey and Austin Trejo, and Lance and Laramie Hiebner; and granddogs, U.B. and Shadow, all of Lincoln; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray and LaRae Cox of Rutland, Vt. and Tom and Shirley Rollins of Blythe, Calif.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Ethel Kopke, brother and sister-in-law, Elwin and Roberta Trejo.

       Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1144 M St., Lincoln with the Rev. David Lux officiating. Visitation will be from 9 am to 9 pm, with family from 6-8 pm on Friday, Dec. 20th, at Butherus, Maser & Love in Lincoln. Private family burial will be held at Circle Mound Cemetery, Rising City. Memorials are suggested to Lincoln Children's Zoo or Tabitha Meals on Wheels.

       Mildred was the daughter of Wesley and Nellie (Riley) Kallenbach. She married William David Chenoweth on 2/21/1941 in Perry, Il. He passed away in 1949 and she then married Harry Read in 1952 until he passed away in July of 1983. She had one step daughter and two sons. She had seven grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren and two step great-great grandsons. Mildred was a homemaker who loved to garden."

"Mildred Read, age 94, of the Pittsfield Manor Nursing Home in Pittsfield, Ill. and formerly of Perry, Ill. died 5:50 p.m. Sunday (April 15, 2001) at the nursing home. She was born April 15, 1907 in Perry, Ill. daughter of the late Wesley and Nellie Riley Kallenbach. She married William David Chenoweth in Perry, Ill. on February 21, 1941 and he preceded her in death in 1949.

           She later married Harry Read in 1952 in Perry, Ill. and he preceded her in death in July of 1983. Surviving is one step-daughter, Mrs. Gene (Margaret) Strub of Tampa, Florida; two sons Wayne Chenoweth and wife Barb of Perry, Ill. and Donald Chenoweth of Livermore, California; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; and two step-great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; and one sister, Mabel Kallenbach and one brother, Wayne Kallenbach. Memorials may be made to Dorsey Cemetery."
